Hello everyone!

Welcome back to Kim’s Korner! I hope it has been a great summer for everyone. It has been a busy one for GameChanger. As the school year starts to gear up, GameChanger is setting up to expand into fifty new schools across the state! To prepare for that, here at GameChanger we have hired four new GameChanger Specialists.

These new team members attended training with the Hazelden Better Ford Prevention Solutions staff, June 18-24 at the Ogleby Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. Through this week long training, all GameChanger Specialists, myself included were trained in the model Hazelden Betty Ford staff used throughout the pilot schools. GameChanger specialists, will take this training in the new schools beginning very soon.

New GameChanger staff includes Paige Mathias and Shelly Mize. Both of these team members come with a lot of expertise and experience in the prevention field and hold a Prevention Specialist, Level 2 certification in the state of West Virginia. Very few people hold this certification in West Virginia, and GameChanger is fortunate to have two of them working with the team. Kendra Larew and JoMarie Chandler are both from the education field, and have experience working in the classroom with the youth of West Virginia. JoMarie and Kendra help to complete a team, moving forward with the mission of GameChanger to stop substance misuse in the youth of West Virginia before it starts.

Check back soon for more information about GameChanger, and what we are doing in the schools!
