GameChanger Peer Leaders at Sherman Jr. High stepped in to help with Mental Health Day at their school. Peer Leaders along with their coach Duncan Breeden presented the One Pill Can Kill video and lead participants in a discussion style Q&A session using the educator toolkit and lesson plans.

GameChanger Peer Leaders from Van Jr/Sr High partnered with Boone Memorial Health, Van Elementary, and Community in Schools to help students at Van Elementary make healthy choices when it comes to fueling their bodies. During the Farmers Market held at the elementary school, students were able to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables to take home! Families were also invited to attend.

In addition to Peer Leaders helping with the Farmers Market, they handed out You Have What It Takes bracelets to the elementary students to remind them they really do have what it takes to make healthy choices!

GameChanger Peer Leaders from Point Pleasant High School visited Point Pleasant Intermediate and Roosevelt Elementary School to share GameChanger educational videos with the 5th and 6th graders. They also presented posters they created sharing why they choose not to use. Posters were created as part of REAL Media, an evidence based program that helps teach media literacy and effective prevention messaging.

The PPJSHS GameChangers visited Roosevelt Elementary as part of their Elementary School Tour on March 9th. They presented the importance of making healthy decisions to the 5th grade and opioid education to the 6th grade.

Mrs. Colman was nominated as our GameChanger Staff Member of the Month. This recognition honors a teacher or staff member who models GameChanger by leading by example, supporting students and staff, and helping make positive changes that strengthen our school community.

Mrs. Coleman was nominated by 8 of our GameChangers for being kind, supporting students, making learning fun, and going out of her way to help kids.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, our GameChanger Specialists attended Prevention Day at the Capitol in Charleston, WV.

More than 80 Peer Leaders from our GameChanger schools; Van, Sherman Jr. High, Sherman High School, Horace Mann, and Point Pleasant proudly represented the GameChanger initiative and the power of youth leadership in prevention.

We are incredibly proud of these students for showing how young leaders can make a real impact in their communities.

On February 4th, we had a wonderful day at Pineville Middle School training a new group of GameChanger Peer Leaders!
With Coach Belinda Cook leading the way, students stepped confidently into their roles as leaders and role models for their peers. Throughout the training, they learned how to promote healthy decision-making, encourage positive school culture, and use their voices to make a difference. 💙

On January 2nd, we had an incredible day at Oceana Middle School as we trained our newest group of GameChanger Peer Leaders!

These students are learning how to use their voices to create a culture where making healthy decisions is the norm — and where every student feels supported and empowered. 💙

The PPJSHS GameChangers sponsored the Point Pleasant vs Hannan basketball game to promote opioid education awareness by passing out QR codes to the video “One Pill Can Kill” and also sponsoring a halftime shootout game. #WeChooseNotToUse

Mr. Retton from Mountaineer Elementary is starting his You Have What it takes week with the 3rd,4th and 5th grade classes.

Some of our Gamechangers had a lesson with the 5th graders today! They went in to mrs holts homeroom to play charades and teach kids different ways to deal with stress such as: exercise, music, tv, etc. They did an amazing job!

GameChanger Peer Leaders from Van had the opportunity to participate in Tobacco Free Day at the Capitol in Charleston on February 17th. During their visit the learned about the importance of advocacy and were among dozens of youth that were there to support funding toward anti-smoking efforts and help fund smoking cessation programming.

Being a hero means standing strong — even when others try to pressure you. 🦸‍♂️
GameChanger helps 4th graders learn how to say no, make healthy choices, and stay confident in who they are. We encourage parents to share this with your kids and see what they think about peer pressure!

GameChanger made a big impact at the 36th Annual CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) Convention at the Gaylord Hotel in suburban Washington, DC! 🌟 Dr. Maryann Corsello, Director of Programming and Evaluation, and our Director of Prevention Science, Dr. Michael Hecht, kicked off the afternoon with a 45-minute presentation on the GameChanger Peer Leadership Program. Later, Shelly Mize, Director of Prevention Education, and Paige Mathias, Director of Prevention Outreach, presented a poster session highlighting the GameChanger Elementary and Peer Leader Programs. With over 2,000 prevention professionals from across the nation in attendance, GameChanger continues to stand out as one of the country’s most comprehensive prevention education programs. 💙💪

GameChanger Makes Big Impact at National Prevention Convention! GameChanger enjoyed a sparkling opening day at the 36th Annual CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) at the Gaylord Hotel in Suburban Washington, DC.
Director of Programming and Evaluation, Dr. Maryann Corsello and Director Prevention Science, Dr. Michael Hecht, opened the afternoon session with a 45-minute Presentation on the GameChanger Peer Leadership Program.
Later in the afternoon, Director of Prevention Education Shelly Mize and Director Prevention Outreach, Paige Mathias, presented Poster Presentation on the GameChanger Elementary and Peer Leader Programs.
Over 2,000 Prevention from throughout the nation have converged on the Gaylord Hotel for the Annual Convention where GameChanger is solidifying itself as one of the nation’s most comprehensive Prevention Education Programs.
